Planting Roots 🌿

I've moved every year since I was eighteen. That's 10 times in 10 years. I've lived in a dorm with hundreds of students. I've found roommates on Craigslist (thank you Lord for your protection). I've been a resident advisor in a house with 50 girls. I've lived in Berkeley next to a homeless park and also in Malibu across from the beach (and Cher's house 😂). In the first three years of our marriage we've lived in three different homes. I've brought each of my babies back to new places.

This April marks 1 year in our house in Turlock. Usually around this time I would be packing frantically and preparing for yet another transition. Instead, I went to Home Depot and bought something green.

We are not moving anytime soon. And it felt appropriate to mark this milestone with a garden. We bought sweet onions and basil and strawberries and blackberries. I even bought a nectarine tree that won't see its first fruits for 3 or 4 years. That feels so very far away.

But for the first time we can plant things and wait for them to grow. For the first time we are committed to a people and a place. It's both terrifying and exciting and I can't wait to see what blooms. 🌱
